PIONEER VALLEY CHAPTER 8

OF NAFCA, INC.

Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 (PV8) of the North American Family Campers Association, Inc. (NAFCA).    PV8 is a local chapter formed in 1960 encompassing the Springfield, Massachusetts area. The chapter is a family club with approximately 220 family memberships. It is a volunteer organization, wherein members take active roles in the operation of the chapter and its year round activities. Business meetings are held once monthly (except July and August ) and officers are elected to the Board of Directors annually in March. With the approval of  the Membership, the Board of Directors maintains control over the operations of the Club as well as the Club House located at 104 West State St., Granby, MA.

PV 8 is a very active camping and social organization which focuses on family activities. Some of the many activities and benefits offered to the membership include:

• Adult, Teen and Children's Christmas Parties
  
• Adult and Children's Halloween Parties
  
• At least 6 Camping Weekends per Year
  
• Family Bowling and Roller skating Parties
  
• A Summer Picnic
  
• Spring Thing (A social function with various themes)
  
• 2 Monthly Newsletters (1 from PV 8, 1 from NAFCA)
  
• An very active Teen Club that plans and funds their own events
• Yearly donation to a local and national charity
• Support environmental awareness through its conservation committee

Additional activities and events are provided during the year by our parent organization NAFCA. To become a member of PV 8, interested parties must first join NAFCA.

PV 8 also produces and staffs the Springfield RV Camping and Outdoor Show, a show which has been held on the grounds of the Eastern States Exposition since 1962. This annual event which is held on Presidents Day Weekend in February typically draws between 35 and 45 thousand people. The Show is planned and managed by a Chairman and a committee chosen by the Board of Directors each year. Members of PV 8 proudly volunteer their time to staff all of the positions at the Show.
